FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team was picked to finish fifth in the six-team Western Athletic Conference according to a poll of the league's coaches released on Wednesday by the conference office.

The Titans finished with eight points to place just ahead of Utah State, which finished sixth with seven points. Two-time defending champion Boise State received four of the six first-place votes and was picked to repeat with 24 points overall.

Southern Utah, which picked up the remaining two first-place votes, finished a close second with 22 points while San Jose State (17) and Sacramento State (12) rounded out the top four.

Fullerton, which opened the regular season last weekend with a third-place finish in a quad meet hosted by UC Davis, returns nine letter winners and welcomes six new faces to the roster for the 2010 season and is led by fourth-year head coach Jill Hicks.

The Titans return to the gym on Jan. 29 as they head north to take on WAC rivals Sacramento State and Southern Utah in a tri-meet hosted by the Hornets at 7 p.m.

Fullerton, which opens its home season on Feb. 7 at noon against preseason favorite Boise State, will also play host to the 2010 WAC Championships on March 27 at 6 p.m. at Titan Gym. Ticket information is available by contacting the athletic ticket office at 657-278-CSUF.
