BOISE, ID - The Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team topped the 192-point mark for the seventh time in the last eight meets, but it wasn't enough for the Titans on Saturday night as they finished sixth at the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Championships in Boise, Idaho.

Host Boise State won a hotly-contested championship that saw the top five teams separated by only eight-tenths of a point. The Broncos finished with a 194.925 to edge second-place San Jose State, which finished second with a 194.725.

Southern Utah was third with a 194.575, followed by Sacramento State (194.275), Utah State (194.150), and Cal State Fullerton (192.650).

Freshman Maddie Steinauer earned second-team all-conference honors on vault by virtue of her fourth-place finish, scoring a 9.825 in the event to miss out on the top spot by .050. Freshmen Shelly Cooper, who also earned second-team all-conference honors, and Alaina Baker also posted top-10 finishes, placing sixth and 10th, respectively. Cooper tied a career-high with a 9.80 in the event while Baker scored a 9.775.

On bars, Fullerton was paced by sophomore Britni Echeverria, who finished in a tie for eighth with a 9.750 while junior Jessica Tait finished in a tie for sixth on beam with a 9.80 to earn second-team all-conference laurels.

Baker was twice an all-conference honoree on the night on floor and in the all-around, finishing fourth on floor with a 9.875 and sixth in the all-around with a 38.900. It was the 11th time in 12 meets this season that she topped the 38-point mark in the all-around.
