FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton junior Alaina Baker tied a career-high with a 9.90 on floor and edged out two Michigan State gymnasts to claim the individual all-around title Friday night to help pace the host Titans against the Spartans at Titan Gym.

Fullerton scored a 191.250 to finish second to Michigan State, which won the meet with a 194.850 behind Rochelle Robinson's three individual even titles on the night. Robinson won vault with a 9.85, bars with a 9.825, and beam with a 9.825 to pace the Spartans' efforts on the night.

Baker matched her career best set as freshman in 2008 and topped the 39-point mark in the all-around for the third time in her career, missing out on her career best of 39.175 by one-tenth of a point. Baker also finished in a tie for second on bars with a 9.80 and posted top-five finishes on vault (t5th) with a 9.75 and beam (t5th) with a 9.625.

The Spartans led wire-to-wire as both teams came out firing to start the meet. Fullerton posted season highs in the first two rotations, scoring a 48.600 on vault and a 48.775 on bars, but were outdone by Michigan State, which scored a 48.825 on bars and a 48.875 on vault to lead by just over three-tenths.

Michigan State then took advantage of Cal State Fullerton's struggles on beam, scoring a 48.575 on floor while the Titans had to count a pair of falls in the third rotation, scoring a 46.500 on beam.

A strong finish on beam by the Spartans iced the meet as they scored a 48.575 on beam while Fullerton finished with a 47.375 on floor, having to count one fall.

Junior Shelly Cooper also had a standout night, finishing tied for third on vaultwith a 9.775 while sophomore Kaitlin Reid set a personal best with a 9.75. Sophomore Taylor Kearns and senior Britni Echeverria tied for fourth on bars with a 9.775 - Kearns' score a personal best.

Cal State Fullerton will have a quick turnaround and get a second shot at Michigan State on Sunday (March 14) at 2 p.m. as the Titans travel to UCLA to take on the Bruins and Spartans in a tri-meet at Pauley Pavilion.
