FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior Alaina Baker took home top honors on floor exercise while also finishing second on vault and in the all-around Friday night and the Titans set a season high on vault overall, helping pace the Titans' efforts against No. 21 Minnesota at Titan Gym.
The Golden Gophers finished with a 195.300 on the night to claim the dual meet win while Fullerton scored a 188.725 - matching its score from a week ago against Sacramento State which stands as the second-highest total of the season.
Baker set a season high with her 9.875 on floor, just fractions of a point away from her career high of 9.90 set last season against Michigan State. She also posted a 9.75 to finish second on vault and led the Titans with a 9.65 on bars. Baker finished with a 38.625 in the all-around to finish second behind Minnesota's Kendra Elm, who finished with a 39.175.
Senior Shelly Cooper finished with a season-high in the all-around with a 38.150, posting her best finish on vault, finishing fourth with a 9.725. Junior Vanessa Klass finished fourth with a 36.575, matching her season high.
Fullerton posted a season-high 48.075 on vault in the first rotation, but trailed wire-to-wire as the Golden Gophers topped the 48-point mark in all four events, including a 49.000 on beam.
Kayla Slechta (vault, 9.875), Janell Campbell (bars, 9.825), and Shannon Golich (beam, 9.90) all took home individual titles on the night and helped lead Minnesota to a 1-2-3 finish on both bars and beam.
After hosting three straight home meets, the Titans hit the road next weekend, traveling to Logan, UT to take on Utah State on Friday (March 4) at 7 p.m.
