Feb. 25, 2007
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's gymnastics team scored a 191.925 on the afternoon, but it wasn't enough to overcome No. 6 and host UCLA as the Bruins took home the title at the second annual John Wooden Challenge on Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion. The Titans finished fourth in the quad meet behind UCLA, No. 11 Denver (193.700), and California (192.450), but the score was the second-highest of the season for Cal State Fullerton. A trio of Titans posted top-five finishes for Fullerton, including a career-high on vault for freshman Shannon Kawada, who scored a 9.85 to finish in a tie for fifth on the apparatus. Senior Nicole Lim finished in a tie for fourth on beam with a 9.775 while freshman Kori Underhill had the Titans' highest finish of the day with a 9.75 on floor exercise to tie for third. Fullerton set season-high scores on vault with a 48.675, marking the third straight meet that the Titans have eclipsed the 48-point mark on the apparatus, and balance beam with a 48.275. Cal State Fullerton returns to the floor on Friday (March 2) at 7 p.m. as the Titans take on San Jose State in San Jose, Calif. NCAA WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS
