Fullerton, Calif. - Pearl Sinn-Bonanni, a three-time All-American at Arizona State and a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association since 1990, has been appointed head coach of the reinstated women's golf program at Cal State Fullerton.

Sinn-Bonanni played in more than 100 LPGA events, competing as recently as 2005. She won the State Farm LPGA Classic and the Seoul Ladies Open and has been a player board member and consultant to the LPGA. She also served as an on-course commentator for ESPN's coverage of the LPGA Tour.

"Pearl brings a level of credibility to our program that is unmatched in our conference," said Jason Drotter, director of golf and men's coach for the Titans. "Her experience and expertise are second to none. I strongly believe that with Pearl on board, our women's program can become a national contender in the next few years. I am very confident in Pearl's abilities and proud to announce her as our head women's golf coach."

Fullerton will resume men's and women's golf competition in the Big West Conference in 2009-10 after a hiatus of two decades.

Sinn-Bonanni was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman at ASU in 1987 and made the first team each of the next two years. She was the United States Women's Amateur Champion (1988) and a two-time (1988-89) winner of the U.S. Public Links Championship, making her the first golfer -- male or female -- to win both titles in the same year. She won more than 100 junior and amateur titles. She was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup and Women's World Cup teams and was selected Rookie of the Year by the European Ladies Golf Association.

Her Pearl Sinn-Bonanni Foundation raises funds for various children's organizations in Southern California. She's also on the boards of Urban Youth Junior Golf and Los Angeles Junior Golf.

Sinn-Bonanni graduated from Bellflower High School and currently lives in Manhattan Beach with her husband, Greg; daughter, Madeline, and infant son, Marcus.
