Fowler Golfer of Month

March 1, 2012

Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's Taylor Fowler today was selected the Big West Conference women's golfer of the month for February.

Fowler, a junior from Murrieta, led the Titans to a second-place finish in their own Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Course over Presidents' Day Weekend. She shot a career-best round of 8-over-par 221 (75-74-72) to tie for second place, one stroke off the individual championship. In two and a half years of play with the Titans she has reduced her average round from 84 to 76.

It's the first monthly award for a Titan golfer, male or female, since the sports were renewed for the 2009-10 academic year.

Long Beach State's Kevin Roy received the men's honor.

Fowler's older brother, Rickie, was the rookie of the year on the men's PGA Tour last year.

The Titans next compete in the Lexus Classic in Fresno on Mar. 11-13.
