San Luis Obispo, Calif. - UC Davis took four of the top five individual spots to cruise to the team championship of the 2010 Big West Conference Women's Golf Tournament on a windy and sometimes rainy Tuesday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Aggies finished with a score of 900, to win their first Big West title by 19 strokes over runnerup Long Beach State.
Amy Simanton and Chelsea Stelzmiller tied for honors with 3-round totals of 224, 8 over par, but Stelzmiller won a head-to-head playoff with a par on the third hole. Teammates Demi Runas (226) and Alice Kim (227) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with Long Beach State's Simone Hoey (225) ruining the sweep with a third-place showing thanks to a final round of one-over-par 73.
Cal State Fullerton finished in seventh place in its first season of competition in more than 20 years. Kristen Aiu (249, 33 over par) edged Taylor Fowler (250) for team honors followed by Neomi Hunt (252), Deidre Crabtree (254) and Alicia Chavez (261).
