Fullerton Earns Third Place Finish at Aggie Invitational
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – After a slow start to the Aggie Invitational, Fullerton moved up five spots in the final two rounds to finish in third place with a total score of 31-over par 895 Wednesday at the New Mexico State golf course.
The Titans were in eighth place after round one with a score of 19-over par 307, however, they greatly improved on their first round score on day two, shooting a 6-over par 294 to move up to fifth place.
Fullerton come back on day three of the tournament to yet again shoot a 6-over par 294 to move up another two spots to finish the tournament in third place. The 6-over par score was the best of the 10-team field in the third and final round. Sacramento State took first place at 9-over par 873.
Sophomore Elsa Lundquist once again led the Titans individually earning a tied for eighth place finish with a total score of 4-over par 220. Lundquist, much like the rest of the team, improved throughout the tournament as she was tied for 19th place after round one and was tied for 18th after round two. In the third and final round she had her best score of the tournament with a 2-under par 70 to move up 10 spots.
Lou Daniella Uy finished second on the team individually with a 7-over par 223 to place her tied for 13th after being tied for 25th at the end of round one. Courtney Sharkey ended the tournament tied for 20th at 11-over par 227.
The Titans return to the links Oct. 30-31 with the UC Irvine Invitational at the Santa Ana Country Club.
