SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton remains in a tie for fifth place after the conclusion of the second round Tuesday at the Big West Championships hosted by Cal Poly at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.
The Titans shot a collective 317 on Tuesday and head into the final round with a 41-over 625, tied with host Cal Poly. Four-time reigning champion UC Davis remains in the lead through 36 holes with a 7-over 591.
Freshman Martina Edberg remains in the hunt for the individual title as she shot her second consecutive 73 to remain at even-par through two rounds. Edberg tallied four birdies on Tuesday to offset four bogeys and is tied for second overall with a 146, three shots behind Clariss Guce of Cal State Northridge who posted a 4-under 69 in round two.
Tisha Alyn Abrea remains in the top-10 after 36 holes, shooting a 5-over 78 to bring her collective score to a 148 heading into the final round. The junior is locked in a four-way tie for eighth, trailing the leader by eight shots.
Makayla Mier matched her first round performance with an 8-over 81 in round two, bringing her score to a 162 after 36 holes. Mier is tied for 32nd heading into the final round.
Dakota Brown will go into the final round in 35th place after shooting a 12-over 85 in round two. Brown's collective score after 36 holes sits at 166.
Nadine Rivera rounded out the Titans scoring as she posted a three-shot improvement on Tuesday, shooting a 13-over 86. Rivera sits with a collective 175 heading into the final day, placing her in 39th place.
The final round of the 2014 Big West Women's Golf Championship tees off at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 with UC Riverside and Hawai'i. Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State are slated to start at 8:10 a.m. with UC Davis, Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine following at 9:00 a.m.
