FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Marcia Foster announced Tuesday that Culver City High School's Lunden Junious and Citrus College's Brianna Barfield have signed on to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Titans beginning with the 2012-13 season.
The pair joins Redondo Union High School guard Annie Park, who signed a National Letter of Intent with Cal State Fullerton in November, in the 2012-13 class.
Junious, a 5-10 forward, is a four-year letter winner for the Centaurs, twice earning All-Ocean League First-Team honors as a junior and senior. Last season, Junious averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds en route to postseason honors, helping Culver City HS to a 22-9 overall record and a perfect 10-0 mark in league play. The Centaurs advanced all the way to the CIF Division II-A semifinals before falling to Norco High School.
"Lunden is an exciting, explosive, athletic wing whose upside is tremendous," Foster said. "Her ability to go inside and out, as well as utilize either hand to finish will make her an instant threat on the floor. She is a relentless rebounder and fierce competitor, qualities that make her a great fit for our program. We are happy that Lunden has made the decision to play at Cal State Fullerton."
Barfield, a 5-8 guard who prepped at Lynwood High School, joins the Titans after a successful two seasons with the Lady Owls at Citrus JC, averaging 15.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in her career - both of which rank third on the school's all-time list. As a sophomore in 2011-12, Barfield led the team in scoring (14.8 ppg) and was second in rebounds (7.3 rpg) while shooting .387 from the field.
"Having known and recruited Bri from high school, we feel that Cal State Fullerton is the perfect place for her to continue to excel on the court and in the classroom," Foster said. "Bri is extremely talented. She's athletic, physical, has great court vision and can play four spots on the floor. What makes her stand out, though, is her ability to make those around her better. We are very pleased that Bri has chosen to be a Titan."
A two-time All-Western State Conference South selection for Citrus JC, Barfield averaged a team-high 16.1 ppg and 9.7 rpg as a freshman, shooting .337 from the floor while also averaged 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
