Fans Invited to 2010 Basketball Alumnae Game
Jan. 21, 2010
FULLERTON, CA - Fans of the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program can enjoy a blast from the past this weekend as it hosts past Titan greats as part of the 2010 alumnae game on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 23) prior to Fullerton's Big West Conference match-up against UC Santa Barbara at Titan Gym. The game is part of the athletic department's 40th anniversary salute to the 1970 Titans squad that won the CIAW (Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) National Championship in Boston, Mass., with wins over Springfield College (76-41), Western Carolina (38-31), East Stroudsburg State (43-28) and West Chester (50-46). Fullerton finished 17-1 that season under legendary Hall of Fame head coach Billie Moore, who compiled a 140-15 (.903) overall record in eight seasons with the Titans before leaving to assume the same position at UCLA. Moore coached the United States to a silver medal at the Montreal Summer Olympics in 1976. Registration for the event begins at 12:30 p.m. with the alumnae game beginning at 1 p.m. A barbecue lunch follows at 3:30 p.m. with the Titans and Gauchos tipping off at 5 p.m. The event is free to former players and fans can sign up to attend the event for only $25 by clicking here.
