Junior Jamie McCaa had 18 points, junior Jazelle Burries scored 16 and senior Cassandra Markovich and sophomore Katie Holloway each recorded 10 as Cal State Northridge snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 78-69 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday at The Matadome.

The Matadors improve to 6-17 overall and 3-7 in Big West play, while the Titans fall to 9-15 and 6-6 in conference action.

The first half went back and forth, with the largest lead by either team being six points. The Titans jumped out to a 15-9 advantage seven minutes in when the Matadors scored eight unanswered in 90 seconds to go ahead 17-15. The lead would change hands five times in the first half and the score was tied six times, but it would be Northridge which took a 41-36 advantage to halftime.

The Matadors led by as much as eight at 44-36, but Fullerton slowly pecked away at the lead and eventually tied the game at 50 with 12:37 remaining. For the next seven minutes, neither team led by more than four. But Northridge would pull away in the final five minutes to pick up the win. Up 64-60, the Matadors scored six in a row to go up by 10 at 70-60. The lead would get as high as 12 before the Titans scored the final three points of the game to fall by nine.

McCaa shot 6-for-11 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers. Off the bench, Markovich made 4-of-6 and two three-pointers, while Holloway went 3-of-4 from the field, 4-for-4 from the free throw line and grabbed seven rebounds. Northridge shot 46.4% for the game and made 5-of-11 (42.9%) from beyond the arc.

Toni Thomas led all scorers with 23 points for the Titans, also grabbing 15 rebounds. Andrea Adams added 14, while Amber Pruitt had 12 boards.
