FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program is celebrating its 50th season in 2018-19 and will honor its alumni at the January 5 game against the University of Hawaii.
To honor the program's history, the women's basketball team is asking all alumni to come to Titan Gym in celebration of its 50 years and watch the current Titans open up their Big West Conference schedule against the Rainbow Wahine. All alum in attendance will take a group picture prior to tip-off and be recognized throughout the evening's contest. More information on the events taking place throughout the game will be released on social media in the coming weeks.
In the program's inaugural season in 1969-70, head coach Billie Moore led the Titans to a 17-1 record and the CIAW National Championship. Since then, Fullerton has made the NCAA postseason twice.
The first was in 1988-89 where Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah led the team to a 21-9 record, but would lose to Montana in the first round. Just two years later, the Titans found themselves in the dance after going 25-8 in the regular season to earn their NCAA Tournament bid. They went on to beat Louisiana Tech in the first round before falling to Stanford in round number two.
