Harada Brings in Four New Recruits
FULLERTON, Calif. – Head Coach Jeff Harada has announced four new recruits, two transfers and two freshmen, joining the team for the 2017-18 season.
Hannah Thompson | 5'7" | Mill City, OR
Hannah Thompson joins the Titan family as a junior-transfer after two seasons at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, Calif. She is coming off a sophomore season where she earned an All-Conference selection as well as a being named a Northern California All-State selection while helping the Eagles win the Golden Valley Conference and finished as state runner-ups. She also helped lead the team to a playoff appearance in her freshman season as well. Thompson currently holds the school record for most points in a game (50), most three-pointers in a season (128), and most consecutive free throws made (28).
"We are excited Hannah chose to be a Titan," said Coach Harada. "She really stretches the defense with her ability to shoot the basketball, but she can also score in a variety of ways. To put up 50 points in a game at any level is remarkable and her experience in the post season at Siskiyous will definitely help her transition to our level here."
Raina Perez | 5'4" | Goodyear, AZ
Raina Perez comes to Fullerton after spending her freshman year at Northern Arizona University. As a Lumberjack, she averaged 10.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. She ranked third on the team in scoring and had an eight-game double-digit scoring streak to end the season. She led all the Big Sky freshman in scoring conference play. Finished the season with 16 double-digit scoring games including two 20-point games and a season-high 26 points. She finished the season with 303 points, 63 rebounds, 68 assists, 18 steals and five blocks in 30 games played.
"Raina is a proven DI player with a year of experience under her belt and we are thrilled she will be joining our program," said Harada. "Her work ethic combined with her ability to play both guard positions with extreme skill, confidence and toughness will definitely benefit our program."
Triann Thompson | 5'7" | Lake Elsinore, CA
Triann Thompson is one of the two freshmen coming into Fullerton this season. She comes in from Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore, California. In both her junior and senior seasons, she was named league MVP and earned the Student-Athlete of the Year award. In her junior season, she earned First Team All-Inland Empire First Team All-CIF, and First Team All-State honors. As a senior, she added even more accolades to her achievement list as she was named First Team All-Riverside County, First Team All-Los Angeles,First Team All-Inland Empire, and First Team All-CIF Open Division. She graduated as the school's all-time scoring leader as well as holding the records for most free throws in a game and most free throws in a season.
"Triann is a versatile guard that comes to us after a highly decorated high school career," said Harada. "She is ultra-competitive and as she gets stronger and used to the physicality at this level she has a chance to be a really good player for us."
Ashlee Ane | 5'9" | Saugus, CA
Ashlee Ane is the second of the two freshmen joining the Titan family for the 2017-18 season. She comes to Fullerton after four years of varsity ball at Valencia High School. As a freshman, she earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention and as a sophomore, was named to the All-Conference Second Team. Junior year, she continued moving up the ranks, earning First Team All-Conference honors. As a senior, she was named team captain and earned First Team All-Conference, and Second Team All-CIF honors. She also helped carry her team to becoming CIF Champions.
Harada had this to say about Ashlee, "What really impresses me about Ashlee is her desire to be great. She's a gym rat who also loves the weight room and her dedication to improving herself every day is what sets her apart. It's that commitment and work ethic that will enable her to have a great career here at Cal State Fullerton."
You can see your Titans in action at Titan Gym for the first time this season on Saturday, Nov. 25 as they will take on the Pilots from the University of Portland.
