Fullerton, Calif. - Heavyweight Wade Sauer and 184-pounder Ian Murphy registered pins Friday afternoon to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 46-0 victory over Portland State in a Pac-10 Conference match to open the 2007-08 wrestling season.

Sauer, ranked No. 3 in the nation, pinned the Vikings' Zack Smith in 3:40 while Murphy, ranked No. 12, scored a fall over Jacob Antoine at 4:30. The Titans also got technical falls from John Drake at 197 and Teddy Astorga at 141 and won the two lightweight bouts by forfeit.

In simultaneous action on adjacent mats in Titan Gym, Embry-Riddle defeated Menlo College, 29-14, and Palomar College defeated Sierra College, 22-16, the latter a battle between community colleges.

Many of the wrestlers in action Friday will return to Titan Gym for Sunday's Fullerton Open, which begins at 9 a.m.
