Sophomore John Drake scored an 11-3 major decision over Shaun Dee at 197 pounds in the tenth and decisive bout Wednesday night to give Cal State Fullerton a 22-17 Pac-10 wrestling victory over Oregon and a split of its doubleheader after a 27-12 loss to West Virginia. The Titans are now 3-3 overall and 3-1 in Pac-10 duals. Oregon is 9-4 and 0-2 while the Mountaineers improved to 2-1.

The Titans had only an 18-17 lead going into the final bout thanks in great part to forfeit wins at 141 and 184 pounds. Drake jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and controlled the rest of the match. Heavyweight Wade Sauer and 149-pounder Morgan Atkinson picked up the other Fullerton decisions. Ronnie Lee at 174 and Ryan Dunn at 133 scored major decisions for the Ducks.

West Virginia spotted Fullerton a 3-0 lead after No. 4-ranked Sauer beat No. 8-ranked Dustin Rogers, 7-6, in the opening bout. The Mountaineers got a tying decision at 125 from Kyle Turnbull and took the lead for good when Jared Garvin beat Armando Gonzalez, 2-1, in double overtime thanks to an interlocking hands call. Brandon Rader followed with a pin of Teddy Astorga at 1:30 in the 141-pound bout for a 12-3 lead. CSF's Morgan Atkinson rallied to beat WVU's David Jauregui, 4-3, but No. 16-ranked Zac Fryling pinned Fullerton's Devin Velasquez in 3:25. Fullerton stayed alive when Teddy Bristol erased an 11-3 deficit by pinning Donnie Jones in 3:50 but the Mountaineers won the final three bouts to win going away.

West Virginia's next competition is at Cal Poly on Thursday night while Oregon will visit the Mustangs on Friday night. Fullerton competes in the Lone Star Duals in Arlington, Texas, over the weekend, drawing Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Columbia and North Dakota State in dual matches.
