Risto Marttinen returns for his seventh season with the Titans' program, now in his second year as a full-time assistant coach.
Marttinen served as a volunteer assistant coach in 2006-07 and previously was a five-year member of the Titans' program. He was practically a "playing-coach" in his senior season as his leadership skills emerged.
He compiled an overall record of 21-13 in 2005-06 to finish with a career mark of 53-65, mostly at 165 pounds. He was Cal State Fullerton's male scholar-athlete of the year for 2005. He was the Titans' academic wrestler of the year five times and earned Pac-10 academic honors four times.
Marttinen has competed for a spot on the national team of his native Finland. He is a graduate of Dana Hills High School where he was South Coast League MVP his senior year with a 52-6 record.
