Three Titans All-BWC

Irvine, Calif. - Seniors Kevin Venegas, Nick Posthuma and Oscar Aguero were honored Monday as part of the 2011 All-Big West Conference men's soccer team. Venegas (Lakewood / Los Alamitos HS) repeated as a first-team selection while Aguero (Anaheim / Katella HS) received his first Big West recognition with a second-team berth. Posthuma (Pasadena / St. Francis HS) was a first-team pick last year but was hobbled by injuries and received honorable mention. Individual honors were spread around the balanced conference. UC Riverside got coach of the year in Junior Gonzalez and Co-Offensive Player of the Year Cesar Diaz Pizarro; UCSB got Defender of the Year James Kiffe and Midfielder of the Year Luis Silva; UC Irvine got Co-Offensive Player of the Year Miguel Ibarra and Goalkeeper of the Year Andrew Fontein and UC Davis got Freshman of the Year in Matt Wiesenfarth. |
