Cal, Titans Tie at 2

Fullerton, Calif. - Kyle Marsh and Anthony Avalos scored in the final 21 minutes to rally California to a 2-2 tie with Cal State Fullerton in a pre-season men's soccer scrimmage Saturday night in Titan Stadium. There was no overtime period.

Nick Posthuma's goal late in the first half and Oscar Aguero's laser in the 55th minute had given the Titans a 2-0 lead.

Trevor Whiddon went the distance in goal for the Titans and made three saves, two of them in one-one-one situations including a shot by Ryan Neil with 3 seconds remaining. Cal used three keepers -- starter David Bingham for the first half, Robby Gogatz for 30 minutes and Justin Tailllole for the final 15:10. Cal's starters played about 60 minutes with virtually a new unit in for the final 30.

Fullerton went with its starters with the exception of substitute Lucas Clardy off the bench for the final five minutes.
