Fullerton, Calif. - Katella High School senior Oscar Aguero has signed a national letter of intent to continue his men's soccer career next season at Cal State Fullerton.
The central midfielder had 19 goals and 17 assists last season, earning recognition as the Empire League Most Valuable Player and CIF Div. II offensive player of the year after leading the Knights to the CIF championship.
"We are very excited to announce the signing of an extremely talented player in Oscar Aguero," said Titans' Head Coach Bob Ammann.
"Oscar has the ability to step right in and contribute for us. How much he contributes will be up to him and how quickly he adjusts to the higher level of play.
"We believe that he will be a big time player for us."
Aguero also plays for the Irvine Strikers Soccer Club. He will be reunited at Fullerton with Strikers teammate Armando Padilla of West Covina High School, who signed a few weeks ago.
Aguero also is the second All-Orange County pick to sign with the Titans this season, joining T. J. Detviler of Orange Lutheran High School. Both Aguero and Detviler also were selected to the Los Angeles Times All-Southern California first team.
