Farfans Score Three Times in Fullerton Win

Nov. 3, 2007

Box Score

Irvine, Calif. - Gabriel Farfan scored two goals and twin brother Michael had one Saturday night as Cal State Fullerton ended a long famine vs. UC Irvine with a 3-1 victory on the Anteaters Field.

The Titans improved to 7-8-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the Big West while UCI fell to 6-6-4 and 1-5-2.

Fullerton played the final 85 minutes a man up after UCI's Kyle Schmid received a red card 4:58 into the match. Michael Farfan put the Titans ahead in the 16th minute after a UCI defender misplayed a ball. Gabriel Farfan made it 2-0 on a breakaway after a feed from German Moreno.

A penalty kick goal in the 53rd minute by Matt Murphy got UCI within a goal but Gabriel Farfan sealed the victory with a second goal from 25 yards out in the 70th minute.

Fullerton improved its all-time record vs. UC Irvine to 17-12-6 but got its first victory in the series since 1999. The Titans had an 0-10-4 record during that span.

Brent Douglas made three saves for the Titans in the net while Greg Larson had four for UCI.

Fullerton hosts UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night in its only action of next week.
