Fullerton, Calif. - Ruzhdi Halili's unassisted goal in the 23rd minute provided all the scoring as Houston Baptist University defeated Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, Saturday night in a non-conference men's soccer match.
The Huskies got 3 saves and a shutout from goalkeeper Chris Dodd to improve to 4-3. Fullerton fell to 3-8 despite outshooting the visitors by a 17-4 margin. Kevin Puder took the loss without making a save.
Halili dribbled from near midfield down the left sideline, beat his defender and then shot from an angle from about 20 yards, beating Puder to the far post.
The game was a microcosm of Fullerton's season. The Titans are 3-8 (0-3 at home) despite outshooting their opponents, 173-122.
Fullerton returns to Big West Conference action Wednesday night, hosting UC Davis.
Houston Baptist finished its West Coast trip 1-1, having lost at UC Riverside on Thursday night, 1-0.
