Morgantown, WV - Kevin Venegas and Oscar Aguero teamed up on a pair of first-half goals and goalkeeper Trevor Whiddon made them stand up with a 6-save shutout as Cal State Fullerton won its first match of the season Sunday, 2-0, over Pitt in the Big East Partner Men's Soccer Event at West Virginia.
The Titans' record moved to 1-3-2 while Pitt, which came into the tournament 4-0, fell to 4-2.
Venegas' header off a free kick from about 25 yards by Aguero gave Fullerton a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute. The pair teamed up again on a corner kick from the left side as Venegas knocked Aguero's cross off the right post and into the net for his second goal of the match and season.
The Titans have only one match next week, hosting UCLA Sunday at 5 p.m. in Titan Stadium.
