Fairfax, VA -
Taylor Morgan converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute to break a 1-1 tie and give George Mason a 2-1 men's soccer victory Sunday over visiting Cal State Fullerton.
The Patriots improved to 3-2-2 while the No. 24-ranked Titans (5-1-1) suffered their first loss.
George Mason had taken a 1-0 lead in the final minute of the first half when Julio Arjona scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Hugh Roberts, beating Titan keeper Trevor Whiddon with a blast from inside the penalty box.
Fullerton tied the match in the 52nd minute when Nick Posthuma headed in his second goal of the year off an assist from Jonathan Birt.
Whiddon finished with 5 saves as the Titans allowed as many goals as they had in their first 6 matches. George Mason's Sean Cote made 2 saves as George Mason outshot the visitors, 15-11.
After six successive road matches, the Titans return to Titan Stadium Friday night to host the University of Denver.
