Moraga, Calif. - Nick Posthuma's apparent goal in the 89th minute was disallowed and Cal State Fullerton had to settle for a scoreless tie on Friday evening at Saint Mary's in the opening match of the 2010 men's soccer season.
"They waved it off and gave us no explanation," said Titans' Head Coach Bob Ammann. "Those are the kind of things you have to deal with on the road.
"Defensively, we played real well... they really had no great chances. To be honest, they kind of stalled from the first minute.
"Offensively, we created some chances. I felt we were the better team. Our guys were upset with the tie. Now we have to prepare for a typically strong USF team on Sunday."
Fullerton goalkeeper Trevor Whiddon was credited with 5 saves in logging his first shutout of the season. The Gaels' Doug Herrick had 2 saves as Saint Mary's was credited with 10 shots to 8 by the Titans.
