CSF: James Maynard will have to miss the 2008
season due to injury... He is a transfer from nearby Hope
International University who appeared in 13 matches, 5 as a
starter, in 2007... Got a chance to play forward late in the season
and responded with a goal at UC Riverside on Oct. 17 that would
have been a game winner had the Highlanders not scored in the final
second for a tie.
HOPE INTERNATIONAL: Played one season for the
Royals across Nutwood Avenue from the CSF campus... Played center
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2002 from Wreake
Valley Community College in native Leicester, England... Played
defender for the school's football team.
PERSONAL: Born on May 21, 1986, in Leicester,
England... Parents are Carl Maynard and Maureen Arias of
Leicester... Has two brothers (twin Daniel and Carlos) and a sister
(Ava)... Occupational goal is to become a physical therapist... Has
worked as a fitness instructor... Chose Fullerton because of its
kinesiology department and Div. I soccer program... Enjoys
travelling and most sports... Most memorable sports thrill was
playing against two professional men's teams -- Crewe Alexander and
Leicester City... Credits Coach Doug Kiest in England for having
the most influence on his soccer career: "He always pushed me and
made me want to work hard and now I have that mentality."
