FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's golf returns to action Friday Feb. 16-18 as they head to Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Wyoming at the Classic Club.
The Course: The Classic Club Golf Course is a nationally recognized championship course designed by Arnold Palmer and a host site of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. It creates a new spin on desert golf with rolling terrain, wide landing areas, 30 acres of water features, 14 bridges as well as an abundance of pine trees and pine straw ground cover. The course is a par 72 with a total yardage of 7,322.
The Field: The Titans are one of 23 teams competing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate along with , Boise State, Colorado, Texas Tech, UCLA, Southern Utah, Southern Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, TCU, University of Denver, South Dakota State, Idaho, California, Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas-Little Rock, Loyola Marymount, UC Riverside, Nebraska, Old Dominion, Wichita State, Texas-Arlington and hosts Wyoming.
Texas Tech is currently ranked 14th in the nation, Cal is ranked 15th, UCLA is 21st, Tennessee is 28th, Kansas is 36th and TCU is 40th. No. 2 ranked Oklahoma State is also in the field but are sending four athletes to compete as individuals and are not competing as a team. The Jayhaws and Horned Frogs have previously claimed the team title at the Desert Intercollegiate, Kansas in 2016 and TCU in 2015 and 2013. Oregon claimed the team and individual title last season.
Last Time on the Green: Fullerton finished in 12th place out of 15 teams at the Waves Challenge. Mark Cobey led the way individually for the Titans with a tied for 10th place finish with a score of 10-over par 226.
