IN A NUTSHELL: After winning only one of five away games to start the season, the Titans finally get to play their home opener on Saturday night vs. Cal State Bakersfield, a team they have beaten six times over the past three seasons, and they should get more use out of returning starter Jer'Vaughn Johnson, coming back from a knee injury. But the Roadrunners come in 3-2 and riding a two-game winning streak with victories over Pepperdine and San Jose State.
AUDIO: Most Titan games can be heard live on the internet. Listeners may access the CSF Athletics home page at www.fullertontitans.com and follow the links. Mike Martinez will call the game vs. Cal State Bakersfield.

LAST GAME: The Titans are coming off a defeat at USC that saw them trail by 2 (32-30) at the half but get outscored 49-24 after intermission for an 81-54 loss. Fullerton had only 4 turnovers in the first half but 12 in the second half, several leading to breakaway layups and dunks.
NO EXPERIENCE: With no two-years or more lettermen, the Titans field a roster that has a total of only nine seasons of Div. I experience (Johnson 3, Hardy 2, Chin 2, Williams 1 and Peltier 1) and only four of those are at Fullerton (Johnson, Chin, Williams and Peltier 1 each). With Johnson and Hardy sidelined, the Titans took only eight healthy scholarship players to Oahu with a total of four seasons of Div. I experience.
THE COACH: Bob Burton is 124-96 in his eighth season at Cal State Fullerton and career. He has the most victories at the Div. I level and trails only Alex Omalev (139-176 in 12 years) all-time. Burton's winning percentage of .564 trails only Bobby Dye (.583, 109-78). He is 6-0 vs. Cal State Bakersfield.
FRIENDLY CONFINES: Under Bob Burton, the Titans are 62-29 (.681) in Titan Gym including 32-3 (.914) in non-conference games. Fullerton has won its last 10 and 29 of its last 30 home non-conference games with the exception an 84-80 loss to Wright State on Dec. 22, 2007. Fullerton's all-time Div. I Titan Gym record is 287-163 (.638). Fullerton also is 1-8 in regular season home games at the Anaheim Convention Center.
ABOUT THE ROADRUNNERS: Cal State Bakersfield under Coach Keith Brown is 3-2 after a win at Pepperdine (66-64) last Saturday and a home win over San Jose State (82-77) on Wednesday. Three players average in double figures led by talented guard Stephon Carter (19.6 ppg).
SERIES HISTORY: Fullerton has won the last 11 meetings to lead the all-time series, 11-2... the last six games have come over the past three seasons in home-and-home series... prior to that, you have to go back to 1986-87... Fullerton's three wins under Coach Bob Burton at home have come by double-digit margins but the games in Rabobank Arena have been won by 4, 5 and 8 points, the latter in overtime.

Devon Peltier - led the Titans with 15 points at USC and was most of the Titans' offense in the second half at San Diego, scoring 14 of his career and game-high 24 points... averaged 11 points but shot poorly in Hawai'i, going combined 1-for-10 from 3-point line in first two games... 5-for-12 treys on way to 19 points vs. Montana State.
