Akognon, Veterans Shine in Scrimmage

Fullerton, Calif. - Redshirt guard Josh Akognon scored 34 points and veterans Justin Burns (28 points and 5 rebounds for the White) and Bobby Brown (25 points, 9 assists for the Blue) were impressive as the Blue defeated the White, 110-98, in an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.

Akognon, a transfer from Washington State who must sit out this season, hit 9 of 12 3-point field goals for the Blue. Another transfer, Scott Cutley from Kent State who is eligible to play this season, had 20 points, 5 assists and a game-high 12 rebounds, also for the Blue.

Four other White players were in double figures -- Kent State transfer Marcus Crenshaw had 19 points, Georgetown transfer Ray Reed had 16, Saddleback College transfer Dwayne Marshall had 11 and College of Sequoias transfer Andrew Green added 10. West Valley College transfer Marcus Morgan led the White with 8 rebounds to go with his 8 points.

Veteran Frank Robinson (17 points, 6 rebounds) and West Valley transfer Kenneth Alexander (10 points, 9 rebounds) also had big stats for the Blue.

Fullerton opens the season at home on Nov. 10 vs. California Maritime Academy.
