Seven TV Dates to Feature Titan Basketball
Oct. 9, 2008
Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's men's basketball team will make at least seven appearances on regional or national television in the 2008-09 season according to the Big West Conference television package announced today. All three games (ESPN2 or ESPN) at the Thanksgiving 76 Classic in Anaheim, a road game on Jan. 8 at Cal Poly (ESPNU) and a home game on Jan. 17 vs. Pacific (ESPN2) will be carried nationally. Fullerton's game at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 10 will be carried on FSN Prime Ticket and the home finale vs. UC Irvine on March 7 will be telecast on FSN West. Several more national exposures are possible with the ESPNU Bracket Buster field on Feb. 21 as well as up to three games (ESPNU or ESPN2) at the Big West post-season tournament in Anaheim in mid-March. Skewed by its turn to be the featured team in the Big West co-sponsored Thanksgiving event, Fullerton leads the conference in scheduled TV appearancs. Fellow tri-champion Cal State Northridge (two national and three regional slots) and UC Santa Barbara (three national slots and one regional exposure) are runnersup. No other school appears more than three times. Fullerton opens practice on Oct. 17 and will stage an alumni game and blue-white scrimmage on Oct. 25. The season opener is Nov. 6 at home vs. Carroll College of Montana.
