Irvine, CA - Cal State Fullerton's men's basketball team will be seen on national television at least twice in the 2005-06 season according to an announcement by the Big West Conference office.
The Titans will host the Pacific Tigers and an ESPN2 audience in Titan Gym on Thursday, Feb. 9, with a special 8:05 p.m. tipoff. The same two teams will have met on Jan. 9 in Stockton before a CSTV audience.
Other potential ESPN telecasts for the Titans include a Bracket Buster game on Saturday, Feb. 18, and the finals of the Big West Conference Post-Seaason Tournament in Anaheim on Saturday, Mar. 11.
Cal State Fullerton also will have a pair of appearances on KVMD (seen on many Southern California cable outlets) on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at UC Irvine and Thursday, Feb. 23, at UC Santa Barbara.
Until last year's NIT second-round game at Georgetown, which was carried on ESPN, the Titans had not been on live national TV since Jan. 29, 1990, when they lost in overtime at UC Santa Barbara. Pre-season polls which have the Titans finishing anywhere from first to fifth place in the Big West in 2005-06 are an indication of the increased interest in the Titans' program, which is coming off a 21-11 season that included post-season NIT wins at Oregon State and San Francisco.
