Bruce Bowen to Speak

Jan. 20, 2011

Fullerton, Calif. - Former Titan basketball star, three-time NBA Champion and current ESPN commentator Bruce Bowen will be the guest speaker at Saturday's Titan Hoop Club Chalk Talk prior to the home game vs. UC Santa Barbara.

The event begins at 4 p.m. at the University Village Dining Hall and is open to all basketball fans. There is no admission charge and complimentary appetizers and soft drinks will be available. University Village is located just north of the CSF campus at Yorba Linda Blvd. and Oxford Ave.

Bowen will recall his Titan career, his methodical rise through foreign leagues to his 13-year NBA career, capped off with a victorious run in San Antonio. Bowen was a rare four-year letterman for the Titans. He was second-team all-Big West Conference in 1992 and first team in 1993, playing for Coaches John Sneed and Brad Holland.

The current ESPN analyst also will reveal plans for the Bruce Bowen Invitational Golf Tournament to be held on Aug. 15 at Oak Creek Golf Course in Irvine. The goal is to raise funds for the men's basketball summer scholarship program

Those unable to attend the Chalk Talk can get information about the golf tourney from Kellie Cox, assistant athletic director for marketing, at (657) 278-7016 or kelliecox@fullerton.edu.
