Fullerton, Calif. - Devon Peltier scored 20 points and Orane Chin chipped in with 17 points and 17 rebounds Saturday night to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 79-67 men's basketball exhibition victory over Cal State L.A.
The Titans made 10 of 21 3-point field goals while the Golden Eagles made only 4 of 18. David Norris had 18 points and Carl Hoffman added 17 for CSULA while Franklin Session had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Fullerton opens its season Friday night in Honolulu vs. Central Michigan. The Golden Eagles, who lost an exhibition to UC Riverside last week, have one more at UCLA on Tuesday night. The Titans are playing without starting inside players Jer'Vaughn Johnson (knee) and Andre Hardy (ankle), who are out with injuries.
The Titans jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead and never trailed. They led by as many as 14 points in the first half at 31-17. The halftime score was 42-30 and the Golden Eagles got as close as 50-46 at 10:58 on two Norris free throws. But Roger Guardia hit a 3-poiinter and Peltier and Guardia made layup around a Chris Robinson jumper for a 57-48 lead and the lead was soon back to double digits.
