Fullerton, Calif. -
Veterans Jamaal Brown and Bobby Brown combined for 36 points and Kent State transfer and redshirt Scott Cutley added 19 in his Titan debut to lead the Blue to an 85-83 victory over the White in the fifth annual Titan Hoop Club scrimmage Saturday morning in Titan Gym.
Jamaal had 20 points and 7 rebounds while Bobby had 7 assists to go with his 16 points. Cutley hit 9 of 14 shots and had 6 rebounds. Vershan Cottrell (13 points) and Manny Montano (12) also were in double figures.
Sophomore Frank Robinson led the White with 22 points. Justin Burns had 18 points and 5 rebounds as he showed why the coaches think he is the most improved player from a year ago. Freshman Mike Danielian had 12 points and center Curtis Battles led all rebounders with 10 to go with 8 points. Ventura College transfer Gary Nunez had 9 points and 9 rebounds.
The game was close throughout as the Blue could not shake the White. Twice the Blue had 5 point leads in the closing minute but the White would come back. They had a chance to win in the final seconds but Robinson's 3-point try missed and Burns missed a jumper after getting the offensive rebound.
Fullerton will host a closed scrimmage next Saturday with Coach Brad Holland and the University of San Diego.
