Omondi Amoke (oh-MAHN-dee ah-MOHK-ee) sat out last season but practiced on a limited basis with the Titans after transferring from UC Berkeley... he underwent shoulder surgery and missed much of the season... he has one season of eligibility remaining... in Spring of 2011 he made the CSF Dean's List (3.50 gpa or higher). UC BERKELEY: Omondi averaged 4.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 33 games in 2009-10 for the Golden Bears, starting on 14 occasions for an NCAA tournament team that beat Louisville and lost to Duke... had a high of 15 points (plus 8 rebounds) vs. Jacksonville on Nov. 24... had high of 15 rebounds in previous game on Nov. 20 vs. Ohio State in Madison Square Garden... scored in double figures 6 times... as a redshirt freshman in 2008-09 he averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 32 appearances, all off the bench... had highs of 11 points vs. North Carolina A&T and 10 rebounds vs. Dartmouth... he missed his true freshman (2007-08) season due to injury, a vascular abnormality in his right calf that required surgery. HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2007 from Oxnard High School... three-time Ventura County player of the year... twice the league MVP... three-time first-team All-CIF pick... as a senior averaged 20.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks for Coach Henry Lobo's 21-6 club... as a junior averaged 19.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.5 blocks for a 23-7 squad... as a sophomore averaged 17.7 points and 12 rebounds. PERSONAL: Born on June 3, 1989, in Santa Barbara, California... parents are Omulo Amoke of Oxnard and Diane Robin of Santa Barbara... ethnic studies major...played travel ball for Pump 'N Run Elite... ESPN.com rated him the No. 13 small forward and No. 83 player overall nationally after his senior year... credits Steve Morehead for most influence on his career: "He was the first coach to introduce me to top level competition." |
