FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball led for 38 minutes against the CSUN Matadors on Wednesday night as the Titans earned a 78-71 victory, pushing their winning streak to five games. Fullerton was led by senior guards Khalil Ahmad with 27 points and Kyle Allman, Jr. with 20 points while junior forward Jackson Rowe posted 18 points and 14 rebounds with five assists.
The Titans (10-12, 5-2 Big West) led 27-8 at the 9:14 mark of the first half and ended the first period with a 46-25 lead. CSUN cut the deficit to five with 4:19 left in the game and then again with 53.1 second left but it was never a one-possession game. CSF shot 44.4% (28-63) from the field and 74% (17-23) from the charity stripe. For the rebounding battle, the Titans won 46-37.
Ahmad went 7-17 from the field and 10-11 from the free-throw line to collect his 27 points while also hauling in five rebounds. Allman went 8-15 shooting to go along with six rebounds and three assists. Rowe posted his second double-double in the last three games.
For CSUN, it shot 43.7% (31-71) from the floor while Lamine Diane had 39 points (17-33 FGA, 3-8 FTA) and 13 rebounds.
Fullerton returns to action next Wednesday, Feb. 6, at UC Irvine at 7 p.m. PT on ESPN3.
