Men's Basketball Sweeps Cal Poly With 75-59 Victory

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball completed the season sweep of Cal Poly on Thursday night with a 75-59 victory. Four Titans scored in double figures, led by junior guard Khalil Ahmad with 22 points and four assists.

CSF was in control throughout the game as it led for 35 minutes. The Mustangs, who trailed 37-22 at the halftime break, cut the Titan lead to 51-49 with 12:25 left in the game. The Titans responded with an 8-0 run of their own and did not look back the rest of the way.


Senior forward Arkim Robertson was dominant inside for the Titans as he scored 13 points, one shy of his career high, hauled in six rebounds, blocked three shots and had a steal in 19 minutes. Sophomore forward Jackson Rowe had his second double-double of the season (the first came at Cal Poly on Jan. 6) with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Austen Awosika recorded a career-high six steals to go along with seven points, two rebounds and five assists. Junior guard Kyle Allman was the fourth double-figure scorer for CSF with 14 points and he had three steals as well.

CSF shot 50.9% (27-53) from the field, moving to 9-0 on the year when shooting better than 50%. The Titans shot 38.5% (5-13) from distance and 84.2% (16-19) from the charity stripe. 

Cal Poly shot just 39.3% (22-56) from the field and 29.4% (5-17) from beyond the arc. The Mustangs entered the game with the top marks in the conference in threes made per game (8.8) and three-point percentage (37.6). CP made 10 of its 12 free-throw attempts.

Victor Joseph scored 16 points to lead the Mustangs. Donovan Fields scored 15 points and dished out eight assists. Aleks Abrams pitched in 10 points off the bench.

Cal State Fullerton heads to UC Davis for a 5 p.m. PT tip on Saturday.
