FULLERTON, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton senior guard D.J. Seeley was selected the Big West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after helping lift the Titans to a pair of wins last week against Idaho State and Texas Southern.
Seeley, who was also selected the conference's player of the week by CollegeSportsMadness.com, earned Big West honors for the second time in his career after averaging 19 points and shooting 59 percent from the field in the two contests, eclipsing the 20-point plateau for the fourth time this season after pouring in 27 points in 34 minutes against Texas Southern.
He hit on 11-of-14 (.786) from the floor against the Tigers, matching his career high with seven assists against only one turnover and equalling his career best with his 11 field goals made. The win was the first for Fullerton on the road this season in five tries and snapped a six-game road skid dating back to February of last season.
In the win over the Bengals, Seeley added 11 more points to go with four rebounds and three assists to help the Titans end a three-game losing streak. The senior has now reached double figures in points in all 10 games for Fullerton this season.
With final exams all week, the Titans don't return to the court until Saturday (Dec. 22) at 6:05 p.m., when they host Hope International as the second game of a doubleheader with the Fullerton women's team, which meets San Jose State at 3 p.m.
