Titan Baseball Signs 13 For 2010

Fullerton, Calif. - Second-year head baseball coach Dave Serrano announced Wednesday that 13 high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Cal State Fullerton for the 2009-10 academic year.

All 13 athletes reside in California and will be competing in their senior seasons at their respective high schools in the spring of 2009.

"I am ecstatic at the overall quality of the players Sergio Brown (recruiting coordinator), Greg Bergeron (assistant coach), and the rest of the staff have been able to assemble for the 2010 class during this early signing period," Serrano said.

"The challenge ahead of us now is to see how many of them will be able to stick to their educational commitment as many of them may have the opportunity to play professionally out of high school. Our fingers are crossed."

Serrano speaks of players such as Tyler Skaggs (No. 8 / Santa Monica H.S), Matt Hobgood (No. 22 / Norco H.S.), Geno Escalante (No. 31 / Rodriguez H.S.) and Dylan Floro (No. 56 / Buhach Colony H.S.) who have been ranked by Baseball America as one of the publication's Top 100 Prospects in the nation as well as Wes Hatton (Norco H.S.), who spent a portion of his summer in the ranks of USA Baseball.

"We are extremely excited about the potential of this group. We feel we have secured some very high-end pitchers and position players that will be a great match for us, ensuring our continued success for many years to come." said Serrano.

Rounding out the rest of the inked prep stars in alphabetical order are: Andrew Bellatti (Steele Canyon H.S), Anthony Hutting (Tesoro H.S.), David Kiriakos (Pacific, H.S.), Steven Mancilla (Sonora H.S), Frankie Martin, Jr. (Yucaipa H.S.), Jonathan Meyer (Simi Valley H.S.), Richy Pedroza (Northview H.S.) and Ivory Thomas (Downey H.S.).
