POSTGAME QUOTES: GAME 5

June 1, 2008

FULLERTON, CA - Quotes from coaches and players following Cal State Fullerton's 4-1 victory over Virginia on Sunday evening at the NCAA Baseball Regionals in Fullerton, CA.

VIRGINIA HEAD COACH BRIAN O'CONNOR
"We're obviously disappointed that our season is ended. It's a tough way to lose. We tip our cap to the Cal State Fullerton pitcher... can see why he has won 11 or 12 games."

"I'm not going to say anything about it (interference call at second base). It was the biggest play of the ball game. There's more frustration with swining at a pitch down in the zone. We needed to be a little more selective."

(regarding the umpire):
"I wont' make any comment about it. These are some of the best guys in the country. He said "he (Miclat) rolled into the bag."

(on Matt Packer):
"The back half of the game he was pitching on fumes... we've used him so much... he just continues to grind it out and he gave his team a chance to win."

SHORTSTOP GREG MICLAT
(on Arbiso):
"You tip your cap to him. He had command of all of his pitches. As a club, we just didn't get the job done offensively."

CAL STATE FULLERTON HEAD COACH Dave Serrano
"This team hasn't done anything easily this year and we still have the ammunition to get it done. When our backs have been to the wall, we always have responded to the challenge."

"It's tough to come out of the losers' bracket... it's tough to go 3-0."

"We'll go with Renken and whoever we have to. We'll take it one pitch and one game at a time."

"We still have a lot of pitching left. We haven't used most of our bullpen."

PITCHER Cory Arbiso
"I did what I've done all season long. .. pound the strike zone... I kept them off balance and guessing."

(on the sixth inning):
"I felt I was getting tired a little but I put it behind me and made the quality pitched I needed to make."
