Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's Josh Fellhauer was named Big West Player of the Week Monday after collecting five consecutive multi-hit games and playing an instrumental role in the Titans' success last week. Fullerton went 4-1 over Rhode Island and nationally-ranked Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
Fellhauer led the Titans' 21-hit parade on Tuesady night (Mar. 10) by going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI as the Titans upended ranked Texas A&M, 15-5 in one of four road games through The South.
The Titans moved on to the Oklahoma State Tournament in Stillwater, Okla., where Fellhauer proceeded to go a combined 5-for-8 in a day-night doubleheader sweep of Rhode Island and Oklahoma State on Friday (Mar. 13). In the first game against the Rams, Fellhauer drove home three runs, had a sac-fly, sac-but and stole a base. In game two, the outfielder went 3-for-5 with a double and an insurance RBI late in the game
Fellhauer produced another three-hit night in the Titan loss on Saturday night (Mar. 14). His solo homer gave the Titans a brief 6-3 lead before the Cowboys rolled a five in the bottom of the sixth. The Titans' winning streak ended Saturday night at 11 games.
In Fellhauer's final game of the week, he sacrificed the winning run to second in the eighth inning after going 2-for-3 with a double to finish with a .667 batting average for the week.
Over the past eight games, Fellhauer has improved his batting average from .289 to .459.
