Fullerton, Calif. - Tyler Pill drove in three runs with a pair of extra-base hits and Michael Lorenzen was 3-for-4 Friday night as Cal State Fullerton snapped a 4-game losing streak with an 11-3 non-conference victory over Washington.
Noe Ramirez (3-2) was the beneficiary of Fullerton's season high in runs. He went 6 strong innings (1 run) with 11 strikeouts before surrendering three consecutive hits to open the seventh. Brian Wolfe and Troy Scott singled and both scored on Willy Peel's 2-run double, which brought on Ryan Ackland, who pitched two innings of hitless relief. Raymond Hernandez pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Titans imprve to 9-7 on the year.
Washington fell to 3-11 with starter Austin Voth (1-2) taking the loss after allowing 9 runs (8 earned) in 3 1/3 innings.
Fullerton put the game away with a 7-run fourth inning. Ivory Thomas tripled and Jared Deacon walked before each moved up a base on a passed ball. Richy Pedroza singled home Deacon and scored immediately himself on a double by Anthony Trajano. Nick Ramirez walked before Pill delivered a 2-run triple. Lorenzen followed with another triple and scored the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to right by Thomas.
Fullerton picked up unearned runs in both the second and fifth innings. Pill also doubled home Ramirez in the first and pinch-hitter Blake Barber's sacrifice fly brought home the final run in the eighth.
The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 and 6 p.m. The afternoon game is in lieu of a game previously scheduled for Sunday but moved due to a forecast of rain.
