No. 7-ranked Cal State Fullerton defeated No. 4-ranked Rice, 15-4, in the finale of a 3-game series Sunday afternoon at Reckling Park.
The Titans used two four-run innings and a three-run inning to lift them to 10-6 on the season. Dustin Miller earned the victory and improved to 3-1 while Vinnie Pestano pitched 2.2 innings and picked up his fourth save of the season.
Brett Pill was 4-for-5 and Jared Clark came off the bench to go 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI. Blake Davis added a three-run home run as well.
After being limited to 4 runs in losing the first two games of the series, the Titans erupted for 13 hits. But Justin Turner went hitless (he scored 3 runs) and his 14-game hitting streak came to an end.
Rice utilized nine pitchers in the 3:37 affair.
Rice's Josh Rodriguez, who had the game-winning hits on Friday and Saturday, was held hitless.
Fullerton hosts San Diego State Tuesday at 6 p.m.
