MERCED COLLEGE: Caught for two seasons at Merced College in the Central Valley under Head Coach Chris Pedretti • Was the most valuable player of the Central Valley Conference in 2008 after hitting .391 with 2 home runs and 37 RBI • Collected a team-leading 70 hits including 15 doubles and had 14 stolen bases in 44 games as a sophomore • Was named an All-CVC first teamer as a freshman after hitting .326 (62-for-190) with a homer and 36 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 2007.

CHOWCHILLA UNION HS: Was a three-time All-North Sequoia League first teamer at Chowchilla Union HS in Chowchilla, Calif. • Played catcher and shortstop and earned three varsity letters under Head Coach Randy Seals • Was named to the Merced Sun-Star All-Area Team both as a junior and a senior (2005 and 2006) • As a senior he hit .446 (41-for-92) with a home run and 23 RBI and also swiped 18 bases in 21 tries • Hit .424 as a junior (39-for-92) with two home runs and 23 RBI with 23 stolen bases • Hit .433 (42-for-97) with 10 RBi and 15 stolen bases as a sophomore • Was the Redskins' most valuable player and captain in each of his last two seasons • Named a Fresno City-County All-Star in his final season with the Redskins.
