FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (14-16) dropped the first game of a three-game nonconference series to San Diego State (20-14) Friday night at Goodwin Field by a final score of 6-1.
Isaiah Garcia continued his strong play at the plate Friday night as he went 2-for-4 with with one RBI. Garcia is second on the team, hitting .366 on the year which ranks fifth in the Big West Conference.
Mitchell Berryhill extended is on-base streak to 39 consecutive games dating back to the 2018 season. Berryhill went 1-for-3 at the plate with one walk. The senior is batting a team-high .434 which ranks fourth in the country and leads the Big West.
Tanner Bibee (4-5) started the game on the mound for Fullerton and went five innings, giving up five hits and four earned runs with two strikeouts. Landon Anderson finished the final two innings of the game and didn't allow a single hit.
Justin Goossen-Brown earned the win for San Diego State as he went six innings allowing three hits while walking two and striking out for. With the win Goossen-Brown moves to 5-1 on the season.
The Titans and San Diego State return to action Saturday night for game two of the three-game nonconference with first pitch schedule for 6:00 p.m. PT.
