FULLERTON, Calif. – Head Coach Rick Vanderhook unveiled Cal State Fullerton's 2018-19 baseball schedule on Monday. The slate is loaded with 27 home contests, including eight games against NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago.
2019 Titans Baseball Season Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, November 13th at 10 am PT. For additional ticket information call the Athletics Ticket Office at 657-278-2783 or email email@example.com.
The Titans have plenty of reason to be excited heading into the new year, as The Titans bring in a stacked group of 18 newcomers made up of 12 freshman and six junior college transfers to join a group that fell just one win shy of reaching their 19th College World Series in program history last year.
In addition to the entertaining home slate of games, in all Fullerton will go up against seven teams that qualified for the postseason in 2018.
The Titans are scheduled to play 11 contests against tournament participants in all, including a natural site contest vs. Vanderbilt (Feb. 16), the home opener against Washington (Feb. 18), a neutral site contest vs. Missouri State (Feb. 22), a neutral site game vs. Oklahoma, a three-game set vs. Stanford (March 1-3), a game vs. UCLA (April 23) and a three-game set vs. San Diego State (April 12-14).
"We have an extremely tough slate this year, but we're looking forward to the challenge," said head coach Rick Vanderhook. "We play against some of the best teams in the country before we get things going with an always-tough Big West Conference schedule. This is why you come to Cal State Fullerton, to play other big-time programs like we do."
Fans will get their first chance to see the 2018 Titans in action this weekend, as Fullerton will host New Mexico State in an exhibition contest on Nov. 3 at noon out at Goodwin Field. The two squads will play a full nine-inning game, which will round out the two-game fall schedule for Fullerton. The Titans played Arizona last weekend in Mesa, Arizona.
The Titans will open the official 2019 campaign against some of the best competition in college baseball, as they'll be one of four teams to participate in the Four 4 Four Tournament in Surprise, Arizona. The Titans will play TCU on Feb. 15, before taking on Vanderbilt on Feb. 16 and closing out the tournament vs. Virginia on Feb. 17.
Fullerton will then open up its 2019 home slate vs. Washington on Feb. 18 at 2 pm PT, in what will be an emotional rematch of an epic 2018 Super Regional. That will be the Titans' only home contest through the first seven games, as they'll then hit the road once again and take part in the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego, California.
Fullerton will open up the event with Missouri State (Feb. 22), then play Fresno State (Feb. 23), before concluding things with Big 12 power Oklahoma on Feb. 24. Both Missouri State and Oklahoma qualified for the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
Fullerton then returns home to Goodwin Field, but the schedule certainly doesn't get any easier, as it'll play five straight contests against Pac-12 opponents, beginning with a three-game series vs. the Stanford Cardinal (March 1-3) before closing out the homestand with two games vs. Arizona State (March 5-6). Fullerton has won the Stanford Regional in back-to-back seasons, eliminating Stanford from the postseason in both instances.
The Titans then travel to New Mexico for a quick three-game series vs. the Lobos (March 8-10) before returning home to play four games, beginning with one vs. USC (March 12) and a three-game set vs. James Madison (March 15-17).
Fullerton closes non-conference play with its annual three-game non-conference match up with rival Long Beach State, at Blair Field March 22-24 before a Tuesday night game vs. Pepperdine (March 26).
Fullerton opens Big West play with UC Santa Barbara (March 29-31) for the second straight season before it hits the road to play at Cal Poly (April 5-7) before a midweek contest at USC on April 9.
The Titans will then take a quick break from Big West play and host a tough San Diego State team for a three-game series on April 12-14.
Fullerton then finishes off the regular season with series at Hawai'i (April 18-20), vs. UC Irvine (April 26-28), vs. UC Davis (May 3-5), at UC Riverside (May 10-12), vs. Long Beach State (May 17-19) and at CSUN (May 23-25). Midweek non-conference contests vs. UCLA (April 23) and UC Irvine (April 30) will also be played. The non-conference clash vs. the Anteaters will be played at Great Park in Irvine.
