IRVINE, Calif. – Junior second baseman Hank LoForte has been named Big West Field Player of the Week for the first time in his career after putting together a spectacular offensive performance last week at USC and Long Beach State. The conference office made the announcement on Monday.
For LoForte, the award has been a long time coming as he currently boasts a 39-game on base streak to go along with a 16-game hit streak. He's also collected knocks in 27 of the last 28 games. He batted .500 in Fullerton's big rivalry series vs. Long Beach State and hit .529 for the week (10-for-19), including a 3-for-5 performance at USC.
He helped the Titans take two out of three games against the 49ers last weekend. He stepped up in Saturday's 10-9 win, finishing 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI. The four RBI marked a career high, while the four hit performance was his third of the year. He delivered a clutch, game-winning 3 RBI triple and scored a pair of runs.
LoForte's honor marks the fourth Big West Player/Pitcher of the Week award for the Big West Champions this season. The Titans hope his bat stays hot, as they begin regional play this weekend.
Fullerton's first postseason game will be vs. Baylor on Friday at 2 pm PT
