CINCINNATTI--- Former Cal State Fullerton catcher Chad Wallach became the 65th Titan in program history to make it to the show, as he was called up by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.
Wallach also becomes the fourth Titan to be called to the majors this year, while he's also the fourth Fullerton athlete from the 2012-13 squad to make, as he joins Matt Chapman (Athletics), JD Davis (Astros), and current teammate Michael Lorenzen (Reds) in the show. Wallach and his father/Titan legand Tim Wallach become Fullerton's first father/son duo to make the majors. His father, Tim, played for the Titans from 1978-79 (.392, 39 HR, 182 RBI) and was a Golden Spikes Award winner, first-round draft pick and national champion in 1979. He went on to become a five-time MLB All-Star over a 17-year big-league career and was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in the summer of 2011
The Yorba Linda, Calif. native was one of the best defensive players in school history during his three seasons with the Titans, as he's still one of just four Titans to boast a fielding percentage of 1.000 for an entire season (2013).
Wallach was named to the ABCA/Rawlings West Region Second Team and the Big West Conference Second Team, while helping guide the Titans to the Super Regional round in 2013. In all, he was a part of three postseason clubs.
Wallach's first opportunity to play in at the Major League level will be Sunday at 3:40 pm PT, as the Reds are in Pittsburgh playing the Pirates.
