MLB Draft Summary

FULLERTON, Calif. - The signing deadline for the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Daft was 2 p.m. PT Friday, and listed below is a recap for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. 

The 2013 Titans
Four student-athletes, Carlos Lopez, Michael Lorenzen, Richy Pedroza and Chad Wallach, from the Titans 2013 Super Regional team were selected in the most recent MLB Draft.

Lorenzen, the 38th overall selection by the Cincinnati Reds, chose to sign with the club on June 20, and forgo his senior season. He is currently playing with the Class A Dayton Dragons of the Midwest League.

Wallach was drafted in the fifth round (142 overall) by the Miami Marlins, and signed with the club on June 19, also choosing to forgo his senior season. Wallach is currently playing with the Class A Short-Season Batavia Muckdogs of the New York-Penn League along with Lopez. The Senior CLASS Award winner was drafted by the Marlins in the 10th round (292 overall) and signed with the club on June 19.

Pedroza was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 17th round (515) overall and signed on June 18. He is currently playing with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Rookie Appalachian League.

2013 Signees
Three members of Cal State Fullerton's 2013 signing class were selected in the 2013 MLB Draft, led by 10th overall pick Phil Bickford (Ventura, Calif. • Oaks Christian HS). Drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round, the right-hander did not sign with Toronto.

Adrian De Horta (Covina, Calif. • South Hills HS) was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the eighth round (238 overall) of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, and signed with the club on June 19.


Timmy Richards (Long Beach, Calif. • Wilson HS) was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 40th round (1192 overall) and did not sign with the club. He is currently playing with the Victoria Harbour Cats (West Coast League) along with future Fullerton teammates Bryan Conant and Joe Navilhon.
